SIEGFRIED OMANN

(1916 – 1980s)

Siegfried Omann was a Danish furniture designer and cabinetmaker renowned for his refined, functional approach to Danish modern design. Working through the family firm Omann Jun, founded by his father Andreas Omann in 1933, Siegfried helped define the company’s aesthetic during the 1950s and 1960s. His work combined elegant proportions, high-quality teak and rosewood veneers, and meticulous craftsmanship—hallmarks of the era’s Scandinavian furniture movement. Omann’s designs, such as the Model 18 sideboard and Model 75 desk, exemplify the balance of utility and sculptural grace that made Danish furniture internationally admired. His pieces were widely exported and remain enduring symbols of postwar modernism, prized today for their timeless form, tactile materiality, and exceptional build quality.
