MARI SIMMULSON

(1911–2002)

Marri Simmulson was a Swedish ceramic artist and designer, best known for her work in the mid-20th century. She was particularly celebrated for her hand-painted pottery and figurines, often incorporating bold colors and playful, modern shapes. Simmulson worked with several Swedish pottery manufacturers, including Upsala Ekeby, where she became a key figure in developing their unique, vibrant designs.

Her pieces often combined simplicity with a touch of whimsy, reflecting the modernist aesthetic that was gaining popularity in Sweden at the time. Her work is still admired for its strong artistic expression and its place in the development of Scandinavian ceramics.
