OLLE ALBERIUS
(1926–1993)
Olle Alberius was a renowned Swedish designer, celebrated for his work in ceramics and glass art. Born in Sweden, he gained prominence for his innovative designs with several esteemed Scandinavian manufacturers.
From 1963 to 1971, Alberius worked with Rörstrand, designing the “Sarek” series, notable for its patterns inspired by Swedish landscapes. In 1971, he transitioned to glass design at Orrefors Glasbruk, where he became famous for techniques such as Ariel, Ravenna, and Graal.
Alberius also created the “Kavalkad” series for Orrefors, a collection of glass vases and sculptures with flowing lines and layered colors. These pieces showcased his mastery of form and light, solidifying his place as a leading figure in Swedish glass design.
Alberius’s work is marked by organic forms and intricate patterns, reflecting his connection to Swedish culture and nature. His creations are housed in institutions like the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design, and continue to be celebrated for their artistic excellence.
