SVANTE SKOGH

(1908 – 1988)

Svante Skogh was a Swedish furniture designer and interior architect whose work exemplified the humanist modernism of the Scandinavian design movement. Educated at Konstfack in Stockholm, he produced designs for Säffle Möbelfabrik and Seffle Möbler during the 1950s and 1960s, creating elegant, functional pieces that balanced proportion and practicality. His dining suites and storage systems, such as the Silvia series, reflected a refined architectural sensibility—simple yet sophisticated. Skogh’s emphasis on honest materials, particularly teak and rosewood, helped define the look of Swedish domestic modernism. His designs, known for their clarity and enduring craftsmanship, remain emblematic of the mid-century ideal of beauty through function.
